Newspaper Prints Thank You from Riding Party

It's seems everyday there is some coverage in the local media about Mikey's fight. Well once again I open this mornings paper as I prepare for the trip down to the court house and once again I see a story.

Today's story is not likely all the others that I have read it brought a big smile to my face and made me very proud to say I am from Milwaukee! Please let me explain, you see normally when a new story comes out I am glad that Mikey's story is being told and the fight is not forgotten. With a normal story I am brought quickly back to August 29th and the great loss to all of us not having Mikey around anymore, it's hard for me to be happy reading that type of coverage, even though the coverage is truly needed. However, today's story is not like the others. Read it:

You see today's story tells the story of my home town! Everyday people who right off the street stepped up to the plate and took action! Who could not be proud of how things went the beer truck driver who has EMT training jumps right in and the neighbors who bring chairs. Someone opens up their home to comfort and care for them after the police are done.

This morning in a few minutes I will start my ride downtown to the court house to meet with the District Attorneys office before court this morning, but because of the piece I have a new glow this morning. It's a glow of pride! Pride in my community because in a world were there is much I don't understand why it happens, like why Mikey was taken from us, I see this story and know there are still people who go above and beyond to do the right things and I will be seeing many of them this morning at the court as we all gather to fight for Mikey!
